What is the Alquerque Game?

ALQUERQUE is a strategy game that may have had its origin in the Orient, as it was already known among the Egyptians (c. 1400 BC) and Phoenicians (c. 900 BC).
It became very popular in Medieval Europe, namely in Portugal and Spain.
Its name seems to derive from the Arabic el-Quirkat.
It is to be played by two people alternately and the object is to take all the opponent's pieces.
A player wins when the opponent has lost all his pieces or none of the opponent's pieces can move.
Some consider it to be the predecessor of the checkers game.
Recommended ages: from 7 to 99 years old.
